Hi everyone!

The other night in the chat someone mentioned Boca burgers. Since i don't live near the border (well, I'm not driving two hours to get fake meat in Watertown), I'm wondering if some of you might have recommendations of veggie patties or something similar, and which grocery stores carry them.

Thanks!

I would so drive two hours for a Boca burger.

Just sayin'.

Mim, my only cautious word about these burgers is that they are very high in sodium.  I believe that President's Choice makes a very good one but I am not sure if they are allowed.  I have always stayed away from anything in a package because of the salt content.

I have had these in the past and they are good.  They used to be sold in Canada but I haven't seen them in years.

I may just make my own patty with ground lean veal. Add veggies and approved ketchup and mayo in a Joseph's pita and Boom - burger time.

I looked at Superstore the other day and they didn't have them:(   I thought they were sold in Canada too, I know they used to.   For "burgers", I use extra lean ground chicken breast and shred some zuccinni and some spices.   And then fry it with some pam, oh my so yummy!!

I know ground meat isn't "allowed" unless you grind it yourself. Do you grind yours yourself? If not, how often do you eat it and do you find that it affects your weight loss? Because I would love to use some extra lean ground chicken, but I'm too lazy to grind it myself.

Hey Janni, no I don't grind it myself.   You have to be really careful though, b/c alot of them say extra lean ground chicken or turkey, but still have high fat content.   The only place I"ve found that actually has the extra lean chicken "breast" is Safeway.   Its the same nutritional value as any regular chicken breast.   I know we're not supposed to have it, but I do anyways.   I have it only about 2-3 x a month, b/c I don't normally shop at Safeway.   Also I didn't notice any change in my weight loss.

I definitely used to buy the Boca burgers here in Ontario as well........I think I used to get them at Longo's.

Many of the Yves products are excellent......I'm not a huge meat eater.  My favourite is the ground round........cook it up and it tastes very similar to ground beef......I make taco's with it and tonight made a "meat sauce" with lots of veggies in it on Shirataki spaghetti noodles.  It was so good!!!

I'm not sure, but you could probably make your own burger with the ground round, by forming it into some alien looking (but tasty) burger... :chef:

I have bad news for you all, I work in the food service distribution industry and we were notified that Boca burgers are discontinued by manufacturer :(

Veggie Patch Garlic Portabello Mushroom Burgers - YUM!! They are the best veggie burgers that I've had. (and being a vegetarian.. I've tried a lot!)

I eat them on strict.. there not on the list, but match up with the nutritional value of other items that are on the list.

The Veggie PC ones I found when I was at the store have corn and carrots and have a TON of sodium so I passed  -- when I was a strict vegetarian some years ago I used to get the Yves soy burgers but on Friday I made my own and for the same calories as the soy ones.. I had veal burgers and yummo!! Added onion, celery, and diced peppers to them and omgosh.. good good good!!  I controlled what went into them and topped off with a big slice of tomato and because I'm trying to avoid breads as much as possible (because I'm learning once I even eat a Joseph's pita.. I want more and more and more) I wrapped the patty up in lettuce with a little f.f. mayo and it was gooooooooooood!
